Looking for a place with a great Children's Menu in Indianapolis? Shapiro's Deli has always enjoyed the fact that generations of families come to nosh together on special occasions. Children 12 years and younger are invited to order from our Children's Menu. We offer great kosher style sandwiches in a child's portion along with one side dish for $3.95 plus tax. If they aren't ready for a full meal you can get just the entree for only $2.95 plus tax. They can also choose a hot dog, corn dog, spaghetti, chilled cheese sandwich or chicken. There are plenty of sides to choose from too - macaroni and cheese, jello, applesauce, potato salad, fruit cup, green beans and many others. As a new member of Weight Watchers, I just want to tell everyone that you CAN enjoy good food even when you are watching your weight. If you are looking for a place to nosh in Indianapolis, stop by Shapiro's Deli. There are plenty of options for those who are following the new Points Plus Weight Watcher program. We have lots of fresh fruit - which are now ZERO points! I have often enjoyed a 6 ounce chopped steak dinner with green beans, onions, and a side of fruit. This is a 10 point meal, which leaves plenty of room for the rest of your day if you are on the 29 minimum daily points. Our sandwiches are approximately 6 1/2 ounces of meat. Look up the points value in your Pocket Guide for the meat you choose. Feel free to order a sandwich with no bread if that works for you. Another favorite of mine is the made-from-scratch vegetable soup. One bowl is approximately 6 points. With two packets of Saltine crackers you only spend 8 points total on this filling and healthy meal. There are plenty of salads to choose from with fat-free dressing options. It costs me a few extra points, but I frequently have the Caesar salad with chicken for lunch. There is about 4 ounces of chicken, about 1/4 cup of swiss cheese, and a small amount of croutons. These all have point values in your Pocket Guide. If you are having breakfast we offer Egg Beaters or Egg Whites, which are a healthy alternative to whole eggs. It is a challenge to work at one of the best delis in Indianapolis, but thanks to the kosher style food choices I just have to make wise choices. I will leave the dessert choice up to you! You'll have to figure out whether or not you can fit this into your program. Good luck to everyone!

Shapiro's Deli Catering Division has initiated a new concept at the Park Regency Senior Living Facility in Indianapolis. Jay Slavin, Catering Manager at Shapiro's Deli, reached out to the facility administrators, who were excited to add Shapiro's Night to their monthly social calendar.
On the first Tuesday of every month, residents choose some of their favorite items from the Shapiro's Deli menu. They can invite family members or friends to join them for a great meal from the well-known deli. Shapiro's brings in their popular sandwiches, hot comforting entrees, and mouth-watering desserts for a dinner that brings back fond memories. Many residents have spent their lives in Indianapolis, where Shapiro's is a kosher-style dining landmark.
This concept is really catching on and growing in popularity. Every month the participation is growing and Shapiro's plans to add other independent living facilities to the calendar as well. Shapiro's will be offering a Complete Turkey Dinner for 6 to 8 people beginning soon. We will announce the date as soon as we verify our turkey delivery. (1936-2007) Thank you. I love getting your email newsletters. I only had the pleasure of visiting your store back some 20 years ago. My mother wanted to take us there as a "walk down memory lane" as we were adults. Her touching story: Let's see... 1950 something? She was born in 1936. left a small town in TN as a 17 year old on her own, got a job in Indianapolis, I think, in a factory, not sure. But her story goes, she got a modest apartment down on the same corner and she would eat lunch there everyday, probably, something cheap. She told me that in the corner of the restaurant, there was a woman who would set up and do manicures in like a booth to the side. She said something about it being set up in the window. Any way, she worked hard and saved and finally was able to eat lunch on Friday's there at Shapiros and get her nails done also. Random story ... I know. Love this story. But I am someday going to bring my daughter to your deli. Just wanted to share some history. thank you.

Marc Summers was here last Monday filming this episode for the Food Network. We don't know the exact air date yet, but Season 3 ends in September and Shapiro's will be featured in Season 4. We will let you know as soon as we get the exact date. Marc was kind enough to let us take some pictures - he is incredibly nice. Here he is with Brandy, our Purchasing Manager.
Shapiro's Deli is staying on top of seasonal favorites. You will have to stop by to see what we have on the serving line, but currently we are offering watermelon, peaches, beets, asparagus, fresh green beans and corn on the cob.
We order it fresh and cook it daily so stop by and see what we have to offer!
The Stadium Village Farmers Market is setting up every Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the parking lot across the street from Shapiro's Deli downtown. Business has been very good. You can get some of the best in locally grown foods from the vendors. Stop by and see us too! We'll be happy to feed you some kosher style favorites after your trip to the market.

Indianapolis Monthly magazine, which I just noticed this afternoon. Lo and behold, there is our serving line from the downtown Shapiro's Deli location for all to see! Out in the dining room are photos of the original founders, Louis and Rebecca Shapiro (top center), Max Shapiro (left) who was one of their sons, and Morton Shapiro (bottom center), who is the (deceased) father of current owner, Brian Shapiro.
Several people have asked lately if we do breakfast. OF COURSE WE DO! We are open at 6:30 a.m. every day and have an express breakfast available at the Carmel deli during the week, with a full service breakfast menu on the weekends. We have a full breakfast menu available at the Indianapolis deli every day. You can order just about any type of eggs, beef bacon and sausage, biscuits and gravy, french toast, bagels and cream cheese, lox plates, and corned beef hash. Join us for your next early morning breakfast meeting or family event. Breakfast is available until 11 a.m.
Shapiro's Deli will be open regular hours on Fourth of July.
Festivities in downtown Indianapolis include the Indianapolis Indians playing July 1-5, free admission to many venues including the Eiteljorg Museum, and the Freedom Blast fireworks display set off from the Regions Bank Tower at 9:45 p.m. We will be open all day to offer you great food while you enjoy your day. We also have great air conditioning, great parking, great desserts, cookies for the kids, and plenty of room for everybody! We hope to see you at the downtown deli.
Festivities in Carmel, Indiana include the many activities offered by the Carmelfest festival. They have changed things a bit this year. The parade and fireworks display will be on July 5th. The parade marches directly past our Carmel, Indiana deli. Please stop by and have lunch with us after the parade. My favorite fourth of July was a few years ago when Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer stopped by the downtown deli unannounced. (My children would say John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston..names in reverse order.) I was star struck to say the least. They were very nice and even let me get my picture taken with them.

Wow! Thanks for writing to us. For the folks who don't know, we have Ann's Strawberry cheesecake, peanut butter, chocolate, plain, chocolate chip, oreo, blueberry, cherry, and a combination of plain/chocolate. We also have a carrot cake/cheesecake combo and a devils food/cheesecake combo. We use only the finest ingredients and bake them fresh every day. They are available by the slice, half cakes or whole cakes. The favorite at my house is the devils food/cheesecake combo.
