SERVING PERCH THROUGH LENT

Tuesday, February 16, 2010 by Tracy Fiddler

Today is Fat Tuesday and time to celebrate and indulge before the season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, which is tomorrow February 17th.  Celebrate Fat Tuesday with a Reuben, potato pancake, and slice of fantastic cheesecake from Shapiro's Deli!

We will be serving perch every day for lunch during the season of Lent, from February 17th through April 3rd.  Don't worry, we will still have our corned beef, pastrami and other deli favorites for those who are so inclined.  A perch sandwich is $6.15 and our perch dinner is $8.85.  The dinner comes with your choice of bread and 2 hot vegetables.  This is a great meal!

POPULAR PUMPKIN

Shapiro's is baking the flavor of the season - pumpkin!  Of course we have pumpkin pie - ours is made with real dairy and needs to be refrigerated.  Don't be fooled by the pumpkin pies you see sitting at room temperature in the stores.  We have pumpkin cheesecake - yes we are experts at cheesecake.  Our made from scratch cookies decorated like pumpkins are very popular.  We have a new pumpkin bundt cake this year that is ultra moist and has a light orange frosting/glaze.  Call ahead or stop by for some of our pumpkin pastries!

BEST CHEESECAKE IN INDIANAPOLIS

Sunday, July 12, 2009 by Tracy Fiddler

Plain Cheesecake, Blueberry Cheesecake, Cherry Cheesecake, Ann's Strawberry Cheesecake, Chocolate Chip Cheesecake, Oreo Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Cheesecake, Chocolate/Vanilla Cheesecake, Carrot Cake/Cheesecake Combo, Devils Food Cake/Cheesecake Combo, and Chocolate Cheesecake.

All made right here at the Shapiro's Bakery with only the finest cream cheese and other ingredients.  Pictured below are the Devils Food Cake/Cheesecake Combo and the Carrot Cake/Cheesecake Combo.  Both are top sellers!  I can personally vouch for the fact that my mother will not leave here without a piece of the Devils Food in her takeout sack.

These are all available at the Carmel Deli too.  You can purchase by the slice or get a whole cake for your get together.
