The race starts Saturday morning from Military Park. This is the 21st Anniversary of the race in central Indiana!
One of Shapiro's employees, Norma, is a breast cancer survivor and will be proudly participating again this year. She walks in support of the cause that saved her life. You may know Norma as the best breakfast cook downtown! Her regular customers always leave comment cards about how much they love her! Did you know that we make our Bagels in our Indianapolis bakery? We sent our baker to train back east and to learn how to make H & H Bagels, a staple in the NY noshing world. They are made fresh every day in a huge variety of flavors - featuring a Green Bagel for St. Patrick's Day last week. On average, we make 12,000 bagels every week!

Sadly, H & H Bagels may have made their last bagel. In January of 2012, the Wall Street Journal reported that they were "loxed out of their bakery" and lost their lease. This 40+ year business was an icon to NYC and simply shows the sign of our economic times. They will be missed.

The gang at Channel 8's morning show Indy Style always have a good time! Hosts Andi Hauser and Tracy Forner invited fourth generation owner of Shapiro's Delicatessen, Brian Shapiro, to come talk about Mazto balls and the Russian pastry called Rugalach.
Busting into a 25 pound bag of mazto meal, the knife yielding Shapiro has a good time on the set.

Say "Hello" to two of our managers at Shapiro's Deli! Portia has been working at the deli in downtown Indianapolis for 4 years. After working in many different departments, primarily as cashier, she was recently promoted to manager. Portia is great to work with and always takes great care of her customers. Mark has been with Shapiro's for 3 years and does double duty by managing at two locations - downtown and in Carmel, Indiana. Mark is known for going the extra mile. He also has a keen knowledge of the city and its' landmarks, which is very helpful for our out-of-state visitors. As you can tell, they are both a bit camera shy. Say "Hello" next time you see them!
