Our Carmel lunch special for August is a Roasted or Smoked Turkey sandwich for only $5. This offer is valid Monday through Friday, dine in only, excludes holidays, not valid with any other offer. You can get a refreshing turkey sandwich on Shapiro's rye, white, wheat, sourdough, egg bun, Kaiser roll, or onion bun. Croissants and bagels are also an option at an additional cost (but well worth it).

Indianapolis Monthly magazine, which I just noticed this afternoon. Lo and behold, there is our serving line from the downtown Shapiro's Deli location for all to see! Out in the dining room are photos of the original founders, Louis and Rebecca Shapiro (top center), Max Shapiro (left) who was one of their sons, and Morton Shapiro (bottom center), who is the (deceased) father of current owner, Brian Shapiro.
Several people have asked lately if we do breakfast. OF COURSE WE DO! We are open at 6:30 a.m. every day and have an express breakfast available at the Carmel deli during the week, with a full service breakfast menu on the weekends. We have a full breakfast menu available at the Indianapolis deli every day. You can order just about any type of eggs, beef bacon and sausage, biscuits and gravy, french toast, bagels and cream cheese, lox plates, and corned beef hash. Join us for your next early morning breakfast meeting or family event. Breakfast is available until 11 a.m.
If you are in need of a meeting room in Indianapolis look no further! Shapiro's Deli in Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana both have a meeting room available for your use. Please call to make a reservation in advance. If you are having a morning meeting, let us set you up with a beautiful pastry tray along with coffee and juice. For lunch or dinner the sky is the limit. You can choose anything from our full serving line and then proceed to the meeting room. We have quite a few regular groups who call Shapiro's home for their regular committee meetings and get togethers.
If you have to stay in the office, we are ready to take care of your business catering needs. We offer a wide variety of catering options, including delivery and set up. The downtown Indianapolis deli serves a full breakfast every day. Just tell the cashier what you are hungry for and we will cook to order. We will bring everything to your table a few minutes later. I know we have blogged about bagels before, but it's worth repeating. We definitely have the best bagels in Indianapolis! Did you know we provide bagels to a lot of the local hotels for their breakfast service? They also refrigerate and freeze very well. We have all seed, blueberry, bran, cinnamon raisin, cranberry pecan, energy bars, garlic, jalapeno pepper & cheese, marble rye, onion, plain, pumpernickel, poppyseed, sesame seed and six grain.
We have one very nice local church who bring bagels to their building every Sunday morning. You can order ahead or come in and take your chances on what we have left. Some days they go very fast! Of course we have Philadelphia cream cheese to go with them. If you need jelly or jam, we have some of the finest from Clearbrook Farms. Check them out at

If you've ever been to the Indianapolis Deli you surely have seen Russell in the front window cutting our meat every day. Russell has been with Shapiro's for......ever it seems! We found out today Russell is going to have some bypass surgery. We wish him a successful operation and a quick recovery! He has been working in the early, early morning for many years now. No one can cut meat for our meat case like him. He is hands down the best meat cutter in the restaurant. If you ordered a party tray, Russell cut the meat. If you had a catering order, Russell probably cut your meat. If you came in for breakfast, you probably got a "Good Morning" from Russell. If you came in to pick up bagels, Russell took care of you. Everybody think good thoughts for Russell! Hopefully he will be back in the front window of Shapiro's soon.
